Tuo Lounge
Löydät TUO Loungen EduCityn toisesta kerroksesta 2069 Kahvio -tilasta. Loungeen voit tulla esimerkiksi luentojen välissä tai ruokatauolla pelaamaan biljardia, juomaan rauhassa kupin kuumaa tai vaikka haastamaan kaverin änärissä. TUO Loungesta löydät myös opiskelijakunnan henkilöstöä, jotka auttavat esimerkiksi opiskelun ongelmatilanteisiin ja jäsenyyteen liittyvissä asioissa.
At TUO Lounge, you can buy various products, such as overall brands, shot glasses and water bottles. You can also buy a TUAS hoodie, college or t-shirt in the TUO Lounge. TUAS brand products also on sale online store.

Events
The student union TUO organizes numerous different student events every year. Among other things, the legendary Keltanokka in the fall, in which more than 1,000 students participate, and Satuolentobileet, where you can release your inner fairytale creature. In the spring we go to the nearby municipalities of Turku by bus on Landerundi
Members of the student union get tickets to all TUO's events at a reduced price. In addition, members are often taken into account in various other ways at events.
As a member of TUO, you also get a discount on OPKU+ events in several cities. So it's worth looking at what events are available in Helsinki or Jyväskylä to name a few.

Lending service
Student union TUO offers various supplies to borrow, e.g. for evening partiess or student life situations. You can borrow, for example, board and outdoor games, thermoses, a coffee maker, a kettle and just about anything else.
You can inquire about loanable supplies from the address tuo@opiskelijakunta.net. Borrowed accessories can be picked up from the TUO Lounge and returned there. You can also suggest new loanable products to us at the same address.
Tutoring
Tuutorit auttavat ja ohjeistavat uusia opiskelijoita heti ensimmäisistä päivistä alkaen ja tuutorina toimitaan koko aloittavan ryhmän ensimmäisen lukuvuoden ajan. Tuutoriksi voi hakea jokainen Turun ammattikorkeakoulun toisen tai myöhemmän vuoden opiskelija.
Tuutorina toimimisesta palkitaan 1-3 opintopisteellä ja vertaistuutoroinnin opintojakso sopii vapaasti valittaviin. Lisäksi pääset tutustumaan moneen uuteen ihmiseen ja saat arvokasta kokemusta niin ryhmässä toimimisesta kuin sen ohjaamisestakin.
Tuutorina saat myös kokemusta tapahtumien järjestämisestä sekä koulutusta ryhmäyttävän toiminnan järjestämisestä. Tuutoreiden ei tarvitse selvitä tehtävästään yksin, sillä tukena ovat niin muut vertaistuutorit, mahdollinen tuutorivastaava, Turun AMK:n henkilökunta kuin Opiskelijakunta TUOkin.

applying to be a tutor
Tutors work throughout the first academic year of the starting group.
We are primarily looking for new tutors from the education programs in which new groups start. You can apply for a peer tutor to a group other than your own field.
Tutors tasks include
- Planning the program of orientation days together with TUAS's staff
- Opastaa uusia opiskelijoita AMK:ssa toimimiseen sekä opiskeluun.
- Introduces new students to student culture and leisure activities
- Support the group forming of the tutored group
- Promotes motivation and commitment to studying
- Participate in marketing of the school and recruiting new tutors
Opiskelijakunta TUO hakee uusia vertaistuutoreita sekä lähiopetuksen päivätoteuttuksiin, kansainvälisiin degree-toteutuksiin että verkko-opintojen toteutuksiin.
Tuutoriksi soveltuu parhaiten henkilö, joka on motivoitunut auttamaan uusia opiskelijoita ja tekemään yhteistyötä opiskelijakunnan sekä ammattikorkeakoulun henkilökunnan kanssa.
How to apply tutor?
Vertaistuutoreiden valintaprosessi koostuu hakulomakkeesta, ryhmähaastattelusta sekä opintopistekertymän tarkistuksesta. Tuutorihaku syksylle 2025 on auki 1.10.-18.10. Hakulomakkeelle pääset tästä!
Hakijoita voidaan valita tuutoriksi, kutsua haastatteluun tai suoraan hylätä hakemuslomakkeen perusteella, joten täytäthän sen huolella. Kutsumme hakijoita haastatteluun hakijamäärän ja hakemuksen sisällön perusteella.
Valituille vertaistuutoreille järjestetään pakollinen koulutus, johon ilmoittaudutaan valintojen jälkeen sähköpostitse saapuvalla kutsulla. Koulutus on sallittu poissaolo opetuksesta.

Hakemuksesta tulee käydä ilmi, mitkä ovat ne syyt, joiden vuoksi hakija on päättänyt hakea vertaistuutoriksi ja onko hakijalla käsitys siitä, mitä vertaistuutoritoiminta pitää sisällään ja mitä se hakijalta vaatii. Pohdi hakemukseen vastatessasi, miksi juuri sinä olisit hyvä tuutori, mitä annettavaa sinulla on uusille opiskelijoille ja miten toimit vuorovaikutustilanteissa.

Interview
Tutor applicants are invited to a group interview based on the degree program. You don't need to prepare for the group interview other than by showing up on your own and with a happy mind!
Kutsu ryhmähaastatteluun voidaan lähettää hakijoille sähköpostitse jo hakuaikana, kun alalle on saatu tarpeeksi hakemuksia. Haastatteluaikaa ei ole mahdollista vaihtaa ilman hyvin perusteltua syytä. Ryhmähaastattelu kestää on noin 30 minuuttia / ryhmä.
In the interviews, we emphasize cooperation and teamwork skills, and in addition to these, we use flexibility, enthusiasm, focus on well-being, social situational awareness and an understanding of what the role of a tutor is like as evaluation criteria.
Valinta voidaan perustaa myös valittavan tuutoriryhmän keskinäiseen ryhmädynamiikkaan, mikäli hakijoita on enemmän kuin tarvittava tuutoreiden määrä. Valinnoissa pyritään huomioimaan valittavien tuutoreiden moninaisuus.
Tutor selection criteria
Selections of new tutors are made based on an application, an interview, and a review of the credit score.
Each applicant is checked for sufficient academic success and credit accumulation, as well as any other considerations that can either support the selection or prevent the selection. Tutors must enjoy the trust of both TUAS and student union TUO.
Mikäli tuutori osoittaa omalla toiminnallaan olevansa sopimaton kyseiseen luottamustehtävään, voidaan tämä huomioida valintapäätöksessä. Pakottavissa tilanteissa, kuten esimerkiksi mikäli tuutorihakijoita ei ole tarpeeksi, voidaan joustaa valintakriteereiden osalta.
Huomioithan, että tuutorointiin liittyy muutamia vaatimuksia, jotka hakijan tulee täyttää, jotta voimme taata kaikille aloittaville opiskelijoille turvallisen ja asianmukaisen kokemuksen opintojen aloituksesta. Vaatimukset pätevät kaikissa tuutorihauissa
Vaatimukset
- Opintopisteitä tulee olla kertynyt kohtuullisesti opiskeluaikaan nähden
- Hakijan tulee olla motivoitunut ja halukas sitoutumaan tuutorointiin koko lukuvuodeksi, ei vain orientoivien ajaksi
- Hakijan tulee osoittaa kykyä toimia ryhmässä
- Hakijan tulee kyetä rakentavaan vuorovaikutukseen opiskelijoiden ja henkilöstön kanssa
- Hakijalla ei saa olla ongelmia päihteiden käytön kanssa
- Hakijaan ei ole kohdistettu kurinpitotoimia koulun toimesta
Edellytysten täyttymättömyys voi olla este tuutoriksi valitsemiselle. Valinta voidaan perua myös jälkikäteen, mikäli Turun Ammattikorkeakoulun tai TUOn tiedossa on este tuutorina toimimiselle.
Legal aid and advice
Various legal issues and problems are related to many very mundane matterssuch as the purchase of a computer or other goods, the conclusion and termination of both a lease and an employment contract. There are numerous examples of this. Many, especially students, may be offered unreasonable rental terms illegally (for example, the law on renting a residential apartment stipulates that a guaranteed rent may not be agreed to be equivalent to more than three months’ rent). Similarly, students unfortunately often come across employment contracts whose terms may not be quite in line with the law.
The Legal Aid Committee provides legal advices to TYY, ÅAS and TUO members free of charge. The committee consists of law students. We are committed to helping all students around the year in the best possible way – to the best of our ability and professionalism.

What should be reported?
All cases and customer information are confidential. When contacting the commission, list the details of your case as well as possible: what exactly has happened and when and what is on your mind about it. We will ask for more information if necessary. Please also remember that the Legal Aid Commission does not provide criminal or tax legal advice or draw up documents, even indirectly.
Where is the division on duty?
The Legal Aid Committee can be contacted at 10th of January to 17th of May, 2023 at TYYs office. Duty hours are on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 pm. We help the customers in finnish, swedish and english. During the summer term, the committee offers advice only by e-mail.
How can I use the service?
Please prepare yourself to verify your student status for eg. by showing your student card or by sending your email from your school email so we can verify that you are entitled to this service.
